About Klimastøtte til Arktis
Klimastøtte til Arktis is a national funding scheme supporting research activities related to climate change monitoring in the Arctic.
Following the Danish Finance Act 2025, the National Centre for Climate Research (NCKF) at DMI has assumed responsibility for administering the scheme from the Danish Energy Agency. This transition supports greater coordination and coherence in Arctic climate science and strengthens DMI’s role as the government’s climate science advisor.
At the same time, the funding model is evolving from a competitive grant pool toward potentially multi-year collaboration agreements. Future agreements will increasingly aim to support current needs and opportunities for up-to-date climate monitoring programmes across the Arctic, including Greenland and the Faroe Islands, as well as relevant international frameworks such as the Arctic Council’s AMAP and other global climate initiatives.
