Workshop: Engaging researchers in IPCC's special report on Climate Change and Cities

Event Description

The National Centre for Climate Research (NCKF) at DMI would like to engage specialists in Denmark in the work on the IPCC Special Report on Climate Change and Cities (SR Cities). The scope of the report will be finally decided by the IPCC in early August. Shortly after the decision of the scope, IPCC will open a call for nominations for authors of the report.

As Focal Point to the IPCC, NCKF will extend the call for author nominations to Danish specialists and specialists affiliated with Danish scientific institutions.

We welcome participants with published research from all relevant fields and backgrounds, including new graduates, early-career researchers, and those new to the IPCC process, as well as those with prior experience. Diversity is a core value and we encourage participation from all published scientists and experts curios on how to engage with the IPCC.

The event will include a workshop where we would like you to participate in discussions on how Danish research can contribute to the IPCC. We will divide participants in groups based upon the outlined chapters for the SR City. Read in more details about the outline of the report here.

Topic 1: Assessment of past and present developments and trends, and explores the near and long-term future for cities.

Topic 2: Actions and solution options to reduce climate risks through adaptation, and greenhouse gas emissions through mitigation within cities.

Topic 3: How to facilitate and accelerate change, including enabling conditions and barriers
